ABSTRACT
Etidronic acid is used as an antioxidant in skin care products. Etidronic acid was commonly identified by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy. The main purpose of this research is to analyze and identify of etidronic acid in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In this study (HPLC analysis) is using UV-Vis detector, column C18 (250 x 4.6 mm), mobile phase A [acetonitrile: 0.5% asam.phosphat (70:30)] B [acetonitrile] with a ratio of A: B (70:30), flow rate 1.0 ml/min, at a wavelength of 201.6 nm. Analytical validation methods based on with many parameters; i.e. accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD and LOQ.
The results of analytical validation methods showed that the linearity tests obtained in the range of 50- 250 ug/mL with correlation coefficient (r) 0.9996, LOD value of 0.0778 g/mL, LOQ obtained 0.2356 ug/mL, accuracy percentage 101.25 to 103% and relative standard deviation (% RSD) precision 1.598% intraday and interday precision from 0.068 to 1.598%. Analysis Etidronic acid by High Performance Liquid Chromatography has been qualified. Analysis etidronic acid from sample from the market was found etidronic acid in level 0.00297% but it still eligible with ACD (ASEAN Cosmetic Directive).
