Fasting and Health : A re-interpretation (Puasa dan Kesehatan : Sebuah Pemikiran Ulang)

Bucalle is regarded as the one who succeded to assure Muslim commonly all over the world that the Quran as divine revealation is logical and rational while the Bible in some of its content are illogical and irrational. This approach later becoming thighly popular and adopted as a new thought called Bucaillism. The new is meucourages Muslim scholars to scrutineze all verses in the Quran that possibly support the truth of modern science. The results to some extent are rejoicing but most efforts ending in despair. Buccaillism is actually very diangerous since the approach regards science equaled to the holy revealation. In elaborating the benefit of fasting, the Buccailism adherent will try to their best to find any possible proves that fasting is beneficial in strengtheing one's health, as said in the Quran and Hadish. If they fail to get the proves, will the truth of the Quran be questioned ? Fasting or shiam in Arabic means self constraint or self controlled. During fasting we have to control right from the five senses, to all psychomotoric activities and if possible one's mind activities in pursuance of mardhatillah (the will of Alloh). Those activities should not be confined in the fasting month or Ramadhan alone but should be adopted as a way of life during one's life. This is the the only way to reach the highest ladder of Iman, the Muttaqin.
