About 90% of labor are accommpained with pain. Pain and fear will give rise to stresses which may induce bad impacts on foetus, occurrence of hypoxia among babies and cause longer labor time. There is a non pharmacological technique called relaxtion technique which was save and may reduce labor pain. However it was rarely practiced. The study almed for analysing the diffeence of labor pain among women is stage I labor, those who were given relaxation technique and those who were not. The study followed a pre-experimental design, specifically the static group comparison design. The population under study were women at stage I of physiological pregnancies estimated to have normal labor and physically and mentally healthy, currently under the care of BPS Ny. Titik Baleasri, Megetan in 2007. A sample of twenty eight moher were divided into 14 respondents in the intevension group and 14 respondents in the control group selection was was carried out by simple random technique. The provivion of relaxation technique and accurrence of labor pain were assigned as independent and dependent variables respectively. The measurement of labor pain was done by Wong Beker Faces Pain Rating Scale Maethod. Statistical analysis was performed using Man-Whitney U test at α value of 0.05. Among those in the intervension group, the levels of labor pain ranged from medium to severe pain, and there were 29% of respondents who experienced very severe pain. The Mann-Whitney U test produced a figure of 34.000, Asymp. Sig (2-talled) at 0.0002, therefore the HD was rejected. The study concluded that there was a difference in the level of labor pain among mother in stage I pregnancy, between those belonging in the intervention and control groups. The study recommended that midwives should practice relaxation technique to relleve labor pain on women in stage I pregnancy, guidence and counsel should be provided during ante natal care in the hope that clients will understand and able to do it well.
