Prevalenci BBLR paa Persalinan Usia Kurang 20 Tahun di Kabupaten Pacitan
Babies classified as LBW (Low birth weight) have their weights at birth equals to or less than 2.500 grams. LBW is one of the factors attributable to perinatal deaths caused by hypothermia, asphyxia and pneumonic aspiration. One of the triggering factors for the occurreances are deliveries by mothers as risky ages (≤20 years). The study was aimed at understanding the extent of relationship between mothers age ≤20 years with occurrence of LBW at Desa Wora Wari Kecamatan Kebonagung Kabupaten Pacitan. This analytical study fashioned in a casesontrol design. The population under study was all mothers in labor, and a total of 73 respondents was recuited as the sample, grouped into risky age (≤20 years) and non-risky age (21-34 years). The assigned independent variable was the mothers age, which was the occurrence of LBW. Data were collected from a secondary source, delivery auxiliary book. Analyses were performed by chi-square test at a < 0,05 significance level and also by the odd ratio calculation. Results of the study indicated that deliveries by mothers at risky age, as shown by 13 out of 25 subjects, have resulted in babies wit LBW, While mothers in non-risky age have delivered only babies with LBW. The chi-square test discovered a p value = 0.000 < 0.05, this means that the Ho was rejected, which implies that there is a relationship between the age of mothers, ≤20 years, and occurrence of he LBW. Odd ratio calculation proved that mothers at risky age of ≤ 20 years have 11.917 times greater risk of having LBW. The study concluded that mothers having heir deliveries at the age of ≤20 years relates to LBW occurrences, therefore the study recommends that these mothers should postpone their pregnancies until they reached 20years old.
