Colposcopy on Menopause : Diagnosis Obstacle and Abnormal Finding (Kolposkopi pada Menopause : Kendala Pemeriksaan dan Temuan Abnormal)
To evaluate colposcopic procedures difficulties in post menopausal patients. Setting : Private colposcopy clinic. Materials and method : Colposcopic examination has been done to postmenopausal patients for ever 3 years from January 1, 1993 until December 31, 1995. Evaluations results were written in percentage whether the relationship between colposcopic examination and their cytologic results was evaluated using the Kappa statistic. Results: From 39 cases who were suffered from squamous intraepithelial lesions the colposcopic examinations showed only 64.1 percent satisfactory colposcopic findings and only 75 percent had satisfactory colposcopy from 4 squamous carcinoma cases. The agreement between colposcopy and cytology results was fair (kappa 0.75). 46.7 percent histology results taken from endocervical curretage which was done in unsatisfactory colposcopy could not be evaluated. Conclusion: Colposcopic examination in postmenopausal patients often lead to unsatisfactory colposcopic findings, and cone biopsies has to be done in high grade intrepithelial lesions.
