Adenoid Hypertrophy in Adult (Hipertrofi Adenoid pada Orang Dewasa)

Adenoid enlargement is uncommon in adult because physiologically adenoid will be disappeared by the age of 14 years. Management is different from adenoid hypertrophy in children. Clinical, radiological and laboratory examination has to be completed and periodically only to find etiologic factors, such as allergic reaction, immunology deficiency and the risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Periodic examination of IgA anti VCA and EA for early diagnosis of precancerous changes is also needed. Adenoidectomy with nasal endoscopy helps to remove the adenoid completely.
