Definition, Diagnosis and Management of Asthma in Global (Pokok-pokok Definisi, Diagnosis dan Penatalaksanaan Asma)

During the last 15 years there has been a gradual increase in asthma mortality in many developed countries such as United States. This increase has occured at a time when mortality rates from most other chronic diseases are on the decline. In fact asthma is the most prevalent nonsurgical indication for hospitalization in the pediatric age group and makes up to 10-15 percent of medical admissions. In their effort to improve the asthma management, asthma specialist in many developed countries such as United States, Australia, England, Japan, Canada and New Zealand have formulated the guidelines in the management of bronchial asthma. These guidelines contain the main steps of the management of asthma. Although there are defferences in these guidelines, but the basic principles are about the same, therefore we can learn many of the methods to be applied in our daily practice.
