Endoservical Cells on Pap Test : The Szalay Spatula Compare to Combined Cytobrush-Ayres Spatula (Endoserviks pada Uji Pap : Perbandingan Dua Spatula)

A study to see the presence of endocervical cells on Pap test has been done in order to evaluate the ability in collecting the endocervical materials using the Szalay spatula compare to combined Cytobrush-Ayres spatula and its relationship to appearance of the transformation zone. This prospective study was held in authors private colposcopy clinic on 205 patients for ever two years. Statistic analysis has been done using the X2. Results presence of the endocervical cells which has been taken by Szalay spatula was as good as the combined Cytobrush-Ayres spatula (p more than 0.05). Appearance of the whole area of the transformation zone on colposcope lead to bigger chance to get more endocervical cells on smear (p less than 0.001). Szalay spatula can get endocervical cells as good as the combined Cytobrush-Ayres and the appearance of the transformation zone influences the presence of the endocervical cells on smear.
