The Knowledge and Practice about Infant Feeding among the Cadres at Kelurahan Kayu Manis, East Jakarta (Pengetahuan dan Perilaku Kader Kesehatan tentang Pemberian Makanan Bayi di Kelurahan Kayu Manis, Jakarta Timur)
Posyandu is a source of community participation. Cadres are the people who manage the activities of Posyandu and have important roles to give information about the importance of Posyandu to the community. A cross sectional study was conducted at Kelurahan Kayu Manis to investigate the knowledge and infant feeding practice among the cadres. One hundred and three cadres (total population) were interviewed. Out of 103 cadres : 62.1 percent were 40-49 years, 50.5 percent senior high school, 85.4 percent low income, 74.8 percent have 3-4 children, 79.6 percent low informal education and 40.8 percent have been as a cadre for 1-5 years. The low level of knowledge about breastfeeding was 12.6 percent, exclusive breastfeeding 37.9 percent, milk formula 33 percent and supplementary feeding 28.2 percent. The bad practice to give information and to motivate the community was 38.8 percent. There were statistical relationship between informal education with knowledge and practice, between the time period being cadres and practice; and between knowledge and practice.
