The Pharmacology of Muscle Relaxant (Farmakologi Obat-obat Pelemas Otot)
Muscle relaxants have two ways in their working. First, the muscle relaxant which worked in peripher (e.g.: dantrolen), and second, the muscle relaxant which worked in central (e.g.: diazepam, baclofen, carisoprodole, and Tizamidine). This article reviewed about tizanidine as muscle relaxant which worked centrally. This drugs especially worked in medulla spinalis. It was derived to imidazoline which worked at receptor alpha2 prasynaps with reducing effect neurotransmitter releasing at the end of neuron postsynaps. This drug were recognized by FDA, for muscle spasm and spastic acute intermitten. Tizanidine had analgesic and sedation effects.
