One of the attempts to improve the of the people in this country is to increase their intake of . Cattle and sheep are much used for their meat, so their health condition has an indirect effect on the health of the people consuming meat. Furthermore the development of industries and the increased use of Selenium, consequently will have their effects on the Se content of the soil and plants and may cause subacute or chronic selenosis in cattle and humans. The uptake of Se, its biochemistry, pharmacology, clinical aspects and the histopathology of Se intoxication are discussed.
