Detection of Antisperm Antibodies of Male Partner on Infertile Couples (Deteksi Antibodi Antisperma pada Pria Pasangan Infertil)
The presence of antisperm antibodies was considered as one of the main cause of male infertility. This study was conducted on 776 semen samples of the male partner of infertile couples in order to evaluate the prevalence of antisperm antibodies. The detection was performed with direct MAR (Mixed Antiglobulin Reaction) test. The test was found positive in 35 samples. Hence, the prevalence of immunologic infertility in this study is 4.5 percent among the male partner of infertole couples. Further exploration were performance on man with positive results in order to conform the diagnosis of immunologic infertility with indirect MAR tests and sperm immobilization test for quantifying the cytotoxic activity of the antibodies. Indirect MAR tests show that 97 percent of the antibodies were presence in sera, whereas 51 percent of the samples were cytotoxic. Routine semen analysis indicated that around 60 percent of the semen samples with antisperm antibodies were normal. Semen culture showed that positive results were detected in 40 percent of the samples. Clinical evaluations revealed that the presence of antisperm antibodies may caused along-standing infertility, in average 5 years, and not all were primary. Evaluation of all clinical and laboratory findings indicated the unilaterlar testis obtruction and male accessory gland infection were the main pathologies found.
