The Aspect of Community's Knowledge, Attitude and Practice and Medical Services among the Inhabitant of Slum Area in Destitute Villages of Surabaya (Aspek Pengetahuan, Sikap, dan Perilaku dan Pelayanan Kesehatan pada Masyarakat Penghuni 'Pemukiman Kumuh' di Desa-desa Miskin Surabaya)
Descriptive study on the aspect of community's knowledge, attitude and practice and medical services among the inhabitant of slum area in destitute villages of Surabaya, had been performed by LKMI-HMI of Surabaya. The result was presented in the scientific meeting and round table discussion on 'the health management of slum area to achieve healthy cities of Indonesia in 21st century', on May, 7th to 8th, 1994. This study was committed to facilitate information to the discussion and expected to be a guidance of the intervention program to the destitute villages. A survey on 196 family heads (KK) had been carried on April, 9th to 12th, 1994, in the slum area of Kenjeran village, subdistrict of Kenjeran, Kalijudan village, subdistrict of Mulyorejo, and Buntaran village, subdistrict of Tandes, by means of proportionally random sampling. Knowledge of community in the slum area on AIDS is 64 percent, while their knowledge, attitute and practice that related to nutrition are 33 percent, 18 percent, and 44.7 percent respectively. All on the member are still insufficient. Other medical services, alongside the primary health services (Puskesmas), are still needed, and the general practitioner is the most expected (37.8 percent).
