A standard patch test set of 23 allergens (ICDRG-Trolab Hermal) was tested on 90 patients with atopic dermatitis in a sigle, open, non comparative study. The patients were selected using the Hanifin-Rajka clinical features criteria as diagnostic guidelines. Assessment was done after 72 hours after application of the allergens. Forty one (45.5 percent) patients, consisting of 19 males (46.3 percent) and 22 females (53.6 percent) have positive reactions were Nickel sulphate (31.7 percent), paraben mix (26.8 percent) and paraphenylene diamine (24.3 percent), respectively. Although it was stated that delayed type hypersensitivity decreased in atopy, the conclusion of this study is that contact alergic reaction is not uncommon in atopic patients.
