Study Comparative Test of HI and IgM Dengue Blot on the Diagnosis of Dengue (Studi Komparasi Tes HI dan Tes Dengue Blot IgM pada Penentuan Diagnosis DBD)
Dengue hemmorrhagic fever remains to be a public health problems in Indonesia. The increase in the incidence of dengue may be attributed to two important factors, namely rapid mobility of the people and the increased frequency and spread of the human travel. Considering the high mortality and morbility, prompt diagnosis and treatment would be prerequisite in order to over come these problems. Attempts Agust 1, 1993 to December 3, 1994, a clinical study was perfomed to children admitted to the Department of Child Health, Dr. Soetomo General Hospital with DHF (grade I-III) based on the history taken and clinical examinations. Laboratory blood examination on Hemoglobins, hematocrit, thrombocyte and serological examinations of HI, Dengue blot IgM revealed : Fifty one DHF patients showed 73 percent HI test positive. Fifty one HDF patient showed 78 percent dengue blot IgM positive. Positive rate in Dengue Blot was greater when compared to that of HI (McNemor method X2 = 8.67, X2 table = 3.84 with df=1, alpa=0.050). Further sudies are of importance, involving a bigger group of DHF children below one year and grade IV in order to obstain a more realiable test result. Combined study using Dengue Blot test (IgG) and Dengue Blot IgM would also be of value if the efficacy and efficiency of both tests is evaluated.
