Toxicity Test on Some Indonesian Medicinal Plants by Brine Shrimp Lethality Test/BST (Uji Toksisitas beberapa Tumbuhan Obat Indonesia dengan Brine Shrimp Lethality Test/BST)

A toxicity test was performed on separately 11 extracts of Indonesian medicinal plant (Elaeocarpus gramiflorus J.E. Smith, Vitex negundo L., Leucaena leucocephala (Lmk) de Witt, Borreria articularis (L.f) F.N. Will, Ardissia humilis vahl., Achyranthus bidentata L., Hyptis capitata Jack., Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr., Annona squamosa L., Annona murricata L. and Artemisia vulgaris L.,) by 'Brine Shrimp Lethality Test' that is often associated with anticancer activity determination. From the eleven extracts, only the chloroform extract of A. squamosa (LC-50, 1.77 ug/ml) was considered to be the most potential for the isolation of the active substances.
