Determinant of Some Semen Parameters and Titer of Serum Testosteron on Fertile Men During Ramadhan Fasting (Penentuan Beberapa Parameter Semen dan Kadar Testosteron Serum Selama Puasa Ramadhan pada Pria Fertil)

An attemt to determine some parameters of semen and titer of serum testosteron has been carried out. The research was intentionally directed toward fertile men during Ramadhan fasting. The semen and serum samples were taken from 28 healthy volunteers living in Jakarta and nearby area. The semen parameters measured were pH, liquifaction periode, sperm movement velocity, morphology and titer of serum testosteron. The samples were taken four times i.e. two weeks before fasting (group A), 14th days of fasting (group B), 28th days of fasting (group C), and two weeks after fasting (group D). The results show that there is no significant differences among the four groups in pH, liquifaction periode, sperm movement velocity and titer of serum testosteron (p more than 0.05). But the number of normal morphology of the sperm was significantly decreased among the fasting group (p=0.01).
