During the period of January 1993 until December 1994, 18 patients suffered from varicella were hospitalized in Bethesda Hospital, Tomohon Minahasa, North Celebes. All Were treated with oral acyclovir 200 mg, five times daily for five consecutive days. After an average of 4 days care, 15 patients were released from hospital except two after 10 days of care. Acyclovir seemed effective to decrease the eruption of new lesions and to fasten the healing process.
