Treatment of Intermediate Grade Non Hodgkin Lymphomas at the Department of Internal Medicine Airlangga University School of Medicine/Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya (Pengobatan Limfoma Non Hodgkin Derajat Keganasan Menengah di Bagian/UPF Ilmu Penyakit Dalam RSUD Dr. Soetomo, Surabaya)
Investigation had been made on the therapy results of the intermediate-Grade non Hodgkin lymphomas admitted at the Dept. Of Int. Medicine Dr. Sutomo Hispital/Airlangga University School of Medicine Surabaya during 1986-1994 (9 years period). Chemotherapy consisted of Cyclophosphamide only (C), combination of Cylophosphamide, Oncovin, Prednison (COP) and combination of Cyclopphosphamide Hydraxydaunorubicine, Oncovin, Prednison (CHOP). There were 56 cases of NHL- Intermediate-grade group, 39 cases of DLPD, 15 cases of DM and 2 cases of DH subtypes (Rappaport clasification), consisting of 37 males and 19 female; the m/f ratio was 1.9; ages range from 12-81 years, mean age 48.9 years. This investigation revealed: 1) therapy result of C-only was in adequate, but the sample was too small. 2) The remission Rate of CHOP therapy was significantly better compared to COP therapy (less than or equal to 0.01) for the intermedate group as a whole as well as for the DLPD subgroup. 3) There were also tendencies that aspecially for the DH subgroup, it was very responsive to CHOP therapy, but again the sample was too small. In conclusion : the NHL of the intermediate grade group needs CHOP combination chemotherapy for optimal resuls.
