Rodent-borne diseases are still a problem in Pasuruan regency, East-Java provinces and sylvatic plague has been reported from this area. Health education has often been used as one of methods for diseases prevention. To obtain appropriate materials and methods for health education on plague, a study was conducted from April 1992 - March 1993 in Kayukebek village, Sulorowo hamlet (treatment) and Dukutan hamlet, Gendro village (control). Both villages were located in Tutur district, Pasuruan regency. Health education was performed using flipchart, poster and preserved specimen of rodent and fleas which were prepared based on questionnaire distributed prior to health education. A second questionnaire was distributed after health education to evaluate the amount of knowledge obtained by the people after health education. Result revealed that prior to health education knowledge on host, vector-borne diseases was quite low (0 percent-38.1 percent) in both treated and control area. After health education this knowledge increased by 9.52 percent - 38.51 percent in treated area. This shows that the method and materials utilized will improve health education to the people.
