Colposcopy : A Screening Test ? (Kolposkopi : Suatu Tes Skrining ?)

Colposcopy examinations as the triage of Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions (SIL) on Pap and as a screening method were performed in 60 cases on each group. Sensitivity and specificity tests were measured on the results of this prospective study. On the group of patients which showed SIL on their Pap, 95 percent showed similar histology results; but on the latter group without having previous Pap tests only 23.3 percent SIL token from the colposcopic atypical transformation zones. Colposcopy as a screening tool has 100 percent sensitivity but only has 69.6 percent specificity. Conclusions : colposcopy as a screening test shows mostly no abnormalities, less CIN frequency, and has a low specificity.
