Anasthesia for One Day Care Patients (Penatalaksanaan Anestesia pada Penderita Rawat Jalan)
Surgical procedures are often managed without hospitalization, the number of one day care procedures amount to 20-40 percent of all surgical procedures. The advantages of one day care surgery are reduction of 40-80 percent of the hospital cost, the maintainance of the patients' routine activity, and lowered risk of nosocomial infections. The ideal anasthetic agent for one day care procedures should have a rapid onser of action, provide acceptable and adequate intraoperative amnesia and analgesia, induce suitable operative conditions, and should have a short recovery periode without side effects. Patients for one day care procedures should be evaluated one day before commencement of the operation. General anesthesia, given intravenous or balanced between intravenous and inhalation anesthesia, can also be used for one day care procedures. Several postoperative criteria have been used to evaluate the release of one day care patients, i.e. Aldrete values, pegboard dexterity skill, Trieger spot test, fitness test, and the Wetchler criteria.
