Domperidone Effect on Gastric Juice Volume (Pengaruh Domperidon Preoperatif terhadap Volume Cairan Lambung)

Forty patients ASA I-II, 15-50 years old, underwent appendectomy were studied to observe domperidone effect on gastric activity. Using a pure double blind study, the patients were devided into two groups. Group I, before fasted 6 hours they got oral placebo only. Group II, 10 mg domperidone tablet using 20 ml of water. After six hours, gastric aspiration were performed using nasogastric tube no.18, 40 ml syringe. Position were changed to obtain maximum aspirate during gastric aspiration. The aspirate were measured using glassmeter in ml. Chi square test and student T test used to analize statistic data (p less than 0.05). The results show that domperidone 10 mg before operation lowers gastric juice volume significantly.
