Anti P3O IgA Antibody as a Marker in Congenital and Acute Toxoplasmosis (Antibodi IgA Anti P3O sebagai Petanda pada Toksoplasmosis Kongenital dan Akut)
Toxoplasmosis is a serious disease in congenitally infected persons and persons with immunological disturbances. Diagnosis is usually made by serology i.e. detection of specific IgG and IgM. Recently its has been suggested that anti P30 IgA could possibly be useful in detection of congenital and acute toxoplasmosis. A study by De Coster indicated that in the acute phase of toxoplasmosis, anti P30 IgA could be detected always before spesific IgG and could not be detected in the chronic phase. The pressence of IgA in neonate's serum proves that it is a congenital infection because IgA cannot cross the placental barrier. Paralel detection of IgG, IgM and IgA can prove very useful in deciding the type of infection.
