The Changes of Eosinofil Number and Serum Immunoglobulin Level on Bronchiale Asthma Patients which Treated with Single Dose Corticosteroid (Perubahan Jumlah Eosinofil dan Kadar Imunoglobuline Penderita Asma Bronkial dengan Pengobatan Kortikosteroid Dosis Tunggal)
The corticosteroid (dexamethazon) effect on number of eosinophil and serum Immunoglobulin E level in 30 asthmatic patients who required corticosteroid for controlling their asthma was evaluated, the number of eosinophil and level of IgE were determined before and 24 hours after administration of corticosteroid. White on corticosteroid, mean number of eosinophil significantly decreased (- 68.89 percent, p less than 0.05) and mean serum IgE level significantly decreased (- 27.27 percent, p less than 0.05). Corticosteroid appears to have significant effect on number of eosinophil and level of serum IgE. There was minimal correlation between number of eosinophil and level of IgE before administration of corticosteroid and no correlation was noted after administration of corticosteroid.
