The Alternative Therapy of Malaria Fever by the Oral Doxycycline (Pengobatan Alternatif Demam Malaria dengan Doksisiklin Oral)

Chloroquine is a drug of choice for malarial disease. Doxyclyne can be used as an alternative drug if the patients have been resistent with common antimalarial drugs. In this study we do a comparative study between doxycycline and chloroquine in treatening malaria. The symptoms in the doxycycline group tend to disappear later than the chloroquine group, but statistically not significant. Plasmodium in the blood tend to disappear earlier in the doxycycline group than the chloroquine group (the 5th day vs 7th day). We didn't find out any significant side effects of doxycycline from the patients who have been taking those drugs.
