The Efficacy and Safety of Quinapril for Elderly Patients with Hypertension (Efektivitas dan Keamanan Quinapril pada Penderita Hipertensi Usia Lanjut)

This open clinical trial using special protocol for determining the eficacy and safety of Quinapril (10-20 mg) once daily for elderly patients (mean age 70.42 plus/minus 6.63) with hypertension visiting our OPD. Thirty female patients and ten male patients qualifying our inclusion criteria were studied. At the end of the 12 weeks study we conclude that quinapril according to our previous study (Iman Parsudi, et al., 1993, Hadi Martono et al., 1993) is : effective enough and safe for elderly patients. No serious side-effects were encountered. Some positive or negative laboratory results were obtained, but in general are still normal variations and not significant. Some electrocardiographic changes were observed in some patients, but statistically not significant.
