Sensitivity Test in Beauty Care (Uji Alergi pada Kosmetik Perawatan)
To evaluate the allergic and irritation effects of skin care cosmetic products, a patch test was carried out. The main problem of this study is that a large number of cosmetics are currently available in the market and that quite many consumers have complained about side effects the cosmetic, besides, some cosmetic producers claim their products to be hypo-allergenic without showing authentic data. For the patch test, Finn Chamber an Scanpor from Epitest Ltd Oy, Finland was used according to the standard method of the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group (ICDRG). Results obtained from the study only showed allerhic reactions (mild degree) against two skin care products, hand
body lotion and cucumber lotion, respectively, 0.45 percent. In this study, irritation reactions (mild degree) were found against 9 products, ranged from 0.39 percent - 0.45 percent except againts cleansing cream (without dilution) 1.47 percent. From the obtained results and data analysis in this study, it can be concluded that the skin care products tested in this study are hypo-allergenic cosmetics with low irritation effects.
