Indoor Air Quality and the Incidence of Nosocomial Diseases at Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya (Kualitas Udara Ruangan dan Infeksi Nosokomial di RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya)
Hospital condition, especially indoor environment is a very importan factors in spreading of communicable disease. The aims of this study were to identify indoor air quality, and incidence of nosocomial disease. In special this study planned to identify kinds of bacteria, bacterial counts and number of surgery wound infections at Dr. Hospital Surabaya. Location of study was Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. Sampling and laboratorium analysis conducted by the Health Laboratorium Surabaya. Data were analyzed discriptively by the study found that the smallest result of settling bacteria per minute is in the labor's room, while the biggest result is in the THT's room. The smallest result of air count per m3 of air is in the Intensive Care Unit room and the biggest result is in the labor's room. Three years monitoring of clean surgery activities showed decreasing trend for surgery wound infections. But in the cases of contaminated clean surgery there was no evidence of improvement. The best management of scheduling, cleaning, sterilizing, and operation of Central Sterilize Supply Department will decrease surgery wound infection.
