The Library Role in Health Development (Peran Perpustakaan dalam Pembangunan Kesehatan)

A study had been conducted in 1992 to explore the roles of libraries in national developemnt, especially national health development. The study is a literature study by which 88 documents had been collected and reviewed to make a summary. The study concludes that there are at least 12 roles which can be played by libraries to support health development, i.e. : 1) Supporting decision making processes. 2) Supporting health research and development. 3) Supporting education and training of health personnels. 4) Supplement to professional development programs. 5) Reference for health program and services. 6) Means for feedback mechanism from the community. 7) Means for improvement of communication skills of health personnels. 8) Resources of health programs information for health personnels. 9) Center for health education for the community. 10) Preserving national culture in health fields. 11). Supporting mental/spiritual development program. 12) Means for relaxation and recreation.
