Peningkatan Tuberkulosis di Puskesmas Pacarkeling, Surabaya Tahun 2009–2011 (Increase of Tuberkulosis Cases at Pacarkeling Health Center, Surabaya, Year 2009–2011)
Tuberculosis remains a major infectious disease in the world and at present becomes a major concern because of HIV/AIDS. East Java is one of provinces with the second higher TB cases in Indonesia followed by West Java. The data of East Java Provincial Health of fice in 2011 showed 41,404 TB cases whereas Surabaya Municipality has the highest of 3,990 TB cases.
This study aimed to elucidate the TB cases at Pacarkeling Health Center year 2009–2011.
It was a coss sectional study with secondary data collection and depth interviews to health workers. The location was the working area of Pacarkeling Health Center in Surabaya where higher TB cases.
Results showed the prevalence of TB tended to increase from 2009 to 2011 along with the rise and fall of population and population density. TB cases were mainly males compare to female, possibly because a high level of mobility. In addition, the majority of TB cases were those at reproductive ages. In the work area of Pacarkeling Health Center, there were more TB cases
in Kelurahan Pacarkembang. The cure rate of TB patients was low, 36% because many of them were drop out during TB DOTS treatment.Hence, it is important to minimize drop out by fi nding the causes.
