Kebutuhan Dasar Kesehatan Masyarakat di Pulau Kecil: Studi Kasus di Pulau Gangga Kecamatan Likupang Barat Kabupaten Minahasa Utara Provinsi Sulawesi Utara (Community Health Needs in Small Island: A Case Study in Gangga Island West Likupang, North Minahasa District, North Sulawesi Province)
Access to health care of community, who lived in small islands in Indonesia, is hindered by the geography, change of weather, far distance from health facilities and providers. Although the health policy and the direction for providing g health services to the communities were already presented, however, the data of health need to those people particularly from public sector’s perspectives were less limited. This article outlines an approach that is feasible for public of practices.
The objective of this case study is to review the health needs literatures of the communities who lived in small island namely Gangga Island in Minahasa Utara District North Sulawesi Province with highlighted on the expression and felt of the need. Included to identify the basic health care services provided by pubic sector.
Qualitative method was applied in this case study through indepth interviewed and focus group discussion to the selected respondents.
The results are health needs of community in small island increased along with less access to health infrastructures, equipments, medical supplies and human resources from health provider.
An explicit framework for providing health services is needed in order to fulfill the health needs of community in small island, including to help prioritize and action changes from health provider are the recommendation of this case study.
