Beberapa Aspek Perilaku Anopheles maculatus Theobald di Pituruh, Kabupaten Purworejo, Jawa Tengah
Malaria remains a public health problem in Purworejo, although Purworejo is an area of low malaria case category (low case incidence) in Indonesia. Control efforts have been conducted by the program but control failures still occurred. One of the causes of control failure was caused by a lack of understanding on the behavior of vector species. Vector behavior has been studied longitudinally in Polowangi village, district Pituruh.
The method used was capture of mosquitoes that landed on human bait (human landing collection) and mosquito landing on goat bait (goat resting collection). Mosquito collections were conducted all night, beginning at sunset (at 18:00) and terminated at sunrise (07:00).
The results revealed 11 species of Anopheles spp in Polowangi: An. maculatus (53.99%), An. balabacensis (19.76%), An. vagus (11.74%), An. kochi (5.23%), An. barbirostris (3.53%), An. aconitus (3.40%), An. minimus (1.28%), An. flavirostris (1.00%), An. annularis (0.04%), An. tesselatus (0.01%), dan An. koliensis (0.01%). Anopheles maculatus mosquito collected more resting on plantation (GBR=42.38) and in the housing (GBR=12.40) on goat resting collection than on human landing collection (MBR= 2.37) that can be called indiscriminate biters. Anopheles maculatus prefers to bite outside the house so that the transmission risky not only in a residential area, but also in plantations or in the bushes. Cattle barrier was a good solution for the control of malaria in Pituruh Purworedjo.
