Early Warning of Leptospirosis in Selandaka Village, Sumpiuh Sub District, Banyumas District At 2013
Leptospirosis became known in Banyumas since the discovery of one case in 2010, 5 cases in 2011, 3 cases in 2012 and until July 2013, 3 cases occurred in Selandaka village, Sumpiuh sub-District.
This research aimed to identify rats spesies and shrew as reservoir of leptospirosis and to detect the presence of Leptospira sp in rats, shrew and human at the area with leptospirosis problem in Banyumas.
The research method was a survey with cross sectional approach, located in Selandaka village Sumpiuh, Banyumas on July 2013. Traping rats and case screening using the Rapid Diagnostic Test ( RDT ) for Leptospira IgG/IgM were conducted during the survey. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay was performed at Bacteriology Laboratory in Balai Litbang P2B2 Banjarnegara to detect leptospira in patient's blood and rat's kidney. Descriptive analysis were done on the data to know leptospira sp to know of spesies rats and human.
Result 15 rats captured(10 Rattus tanezumi dan 5 Suncus murinus) and from the screening 7 human was suspected of leptospirosis. Results of laboratory tests showed no leptospira bacteria found in rats , shrew or serum of patients suspected of leptospirosis . It's important to do and activate leptospirosis surveillance and socialization for all stakeholders (community , health workersand local government), especially in improving early diagnosis and control / prevention of leptospirosis.
