Pengaruh Konsentrasi Etanol pada Ekstraksi Tepung Cacing Tanah (Lumbricus rubellus) terhadap Pertumbuhan Escherichia coli
Animals and plants are very large role in curing various diseases. One of the animal organism used as a medicine and has antibacterial potency is the earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus). Earthworms are widely used to treat several diseases, including diseases caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli.
This study was an experimental study using diffusion method to examine the effect of ethanol concentration on the extraction Earthworm (TCT) on the growth of Escherichia coli. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) which is divided into 4 treatments and 5 replications consisting of distilled water, extract TCT with various concentration of ethanol (30%, 50% and 70%).
Research results obtained by the average diameter of inhibition zone for each of the ethanol extract of earthworm powder concentration of 30%, 50% and 70% is 22.84 mm, 20.84 mm and 9.48 mm, whereas distilled water does not produce inhibition zone. Having analyzed statistically using the F test (ANOVA) showed that the variation of the concentration of ethanol for extraction earthworms influence on Escherichia coli (p = 0.000). After further testing showed that the ethanol extract of earthworm powder concentration of 30% and 50% showed a signif icant difference with the ethanol extract of earthworm powder concentration of 70%. The lower the concentration of ethanol used to extract TCT greater inhibitory zone diameter.
