Anopheles Vagus Sebagai Tersangka Vektor di Indonesia (Anopheles Vagus as Suspected Malaria Vetor In Indonesia)
ABSTRACT
Malaria is still one of the infectious disease that difficult to eradicate and become health problems all over the world including Indonesia. Half of the world's population are at risk of contracting malaria because of living in more than 100 countries still endemic to malaria. Malaria can be transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes which vector of malaria. Indonesian government has carried out vector control using larva aides and utilization of Long Lasting Insecticides Treat Nets funded by global aid. In Indonesia there are about 80 species of Anopheles, and only 22 species had confirmed as malaria vectors. Of all species vectors, 6 species plays a major role in malaria transmission. This paper aims at outlining the bionomic of Anopheles vagus as suspected vector of malaria. The methods of writing using the literature searches, reviewing books, articles and scientific journals. The results showed that Anopheles vagus collected from Sumba confirmed positive of Plasmodium vivax using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Anopheles vagus has a tendency of zoophilick, but now with the development of human civilization this species could become a potential vector in the future.
