Pengetahuan dan Sikap Tentang Penyakit TB Paru pada Remaja di Kabupaten Tangerang Tahun 2009
Tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is a deadly disease in the world. In Indonesia, TB is a major public health problem. Number of TB patients in Indonesia is the 3rd largest in the world after India and China with the number of patients approximately 10% of the total number of TB patients in the world. In 2007 approximately 75% of TB patients were the age group most economically productive (15-50 years). Transmission and eradication of pulmonary TB disease is also not free from the socio-cultural aspects of the community.
The study design was a cross sectional performed using a "Rapid Assessment Procedures (RAP)". Informants in this study were adolescent aged 15-20 years in Cikupa health centers and Sepatan at Tangerang district, was chosen purposively. Knowledge and attitudes informations had obtained through Focus Group Discussion. informants by level of education ranging from elementary to graduate high school.
The result showed that adolesccent were familiar with pulmonary TB disease term, and obtained from diverse sources, but only a few informants familiar with symptoms and causes of pulmonary TB disease. Pulmonary TB is not a dangerous disease was the perception of some informants. The conclusion was improper knowledge and perception, can influence lack of awareness among community of TB disease effects, so the suggestions can be submitted is a more intensive counseling and suitable for every level of education and age in community to increase the adolescent’s understanding of pulmonary tuberculosis.
