Tekanan Darah Penderita Hipertensi Setelah Diberikan Jus Tomat
ABSTRACT.
Hypertension is a risk factorfor heart attack (acute myocardial infarction), heart failure and stroke in Indonesia Hypertension is the third leading cause of death for all ages with a prevalence of 31. 7%1 Prevalence of Hypertension in Bali, namely 19.6%.2 Treatment of hypertension with drugs often fail because people get tired of taking medication, disaming the side effects caused people prefer herbs as an alternative treatment of hypertension. Many believed the plant community con be used to lower blood pressure, such as tomatoes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the provision of tomato juice in patients with hypertension that can be used as information for patients with hypertension that is not dependent on drugs. This research is a quasi experimental design with one group pre¬test post-test was performedfor 14 consecutive days involving 18 employees Klungkung Hospital suffering from hypertension and not taking drugs that lower blood pressure.
The result of ANOVA statistical test showed a significant difference respectively in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before treatment was given with 7 days after treatment, and 14 days after treatment Deterioration in systolic and diastolic blood pressure occurred more apparent after 14 days given tomato juice than after 7 days given tomato juice. Hypertension can be suggested to patients to consume tomatojuice everyday so that blood pressure can be controlled and maintained.
