Efektifitas Ekstrak Daun Beliuntas Untuk Menghambat Pertumbuhan Streptococcus Mutans Penyebab Karies Gig! (Dengan Pelajrut Etilasetat)

ABSTRACT

Tooth and oral disease affects nearly everyone. The prevalence of caries active and caries experience in the population 12 years and over in Indonesia by 43.4%, while for Bali Province at 37.6%. Maintenance of dental health is very important. Purpose of cleaning teeth is to remove plaque. Research by Nahak MM, et al showed that the beluntas leaf extract its ability to reduce the growth of microbes in saliva. Beluntas leaves used to eliminate body odor and bad breath. The objective of this research is: the effectiveness beluntas leaf extract with ethyl acetate solvent to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutant cause dental caries.

The research is randomized posttest control group design. This study used by 7 Streptococcus mutant as a sample plate, which is divided into four groups. The mean diameter ofthe inhibition zone formed on the plate so that seed Streptococcus mutans in the control group using ethyl acetate as follows: 0.00 mm. The mean diameter of the inhibition zone formed on the plate so that seed Streptococcus mutans in the treatment group using beluntas leaf extract with ethyl acetate solvent concentration of 50% was 9.29 nun: concentration of 75%, was 12.7/ mm, and a concentration of 100%, was 12.29 mm. Kruskal-Wallis test showed that, the value of X2= 19.39Keywords: beluntas leaf extract ,growth of microbes, Streptococcus mutant
