ABSTRACT:

HIV/AIDS is a disease that can attack the immune system. Along with the worsening of the immune systems. HIV patients began to show symptomps of due opportunistic infections. Opuflunistic infection is an infection arising due to decrease in the body's immune system. This study aims to describe the characteristic of the individual and the type opportunistic infection in patients H1V/AIDS attending VCT Yowari Hospital, Jayapura regency in 2013. The study design was cross-sectional. The sample is the study were 36 HIV/AIDS patients who visited the VCT clinic that has a complete medical record data.

The resut showed is patient characteristic on VCT Yowari hospital are dominated by : male (50%), aged 20-29 years (61.I%), high school educated (36.1%), unemployed (58.3%), married status (83.3%), and CD4 level>350/mm3. Opportunistic infection were found is tuberculosis, bacterial vaginosis, papilla,- pruritic eruption, candidiasis oral, chronic diarrhea, pleuritis, candiloma acuminata, syndrome dyspepsia and uretritis Gonorhoea. ln Conclusion : the type of opportunistic infection in hospital Yowari is a tuberculosis and bacterial vaginosis.there was no relationship between the characteristic of individuals with apportunistik infection.
