ABSTRACT

Mon gosteen peel contains antioxidants that protect against cell damage. Former? that is misused as a food preservative is source of oxidants. This study is conducted to prove the effect of man gosteen peel extract on BcI-2 protein expression and the number of renal tubular dead cells in Wistar rots caused by formalin. A number of .18 mole Wistor rats were given 200mg/kgbw/day formcdin per-sonde for 2 weeks. The rats were divided into 3 groups: Control/K received no extract; P1 and P2 received 200 and 400mg/kgbwday extract respectively for1 week. Assessment of Bcl-2 expression and the number current:I tubular dead cells was performed. Data were analyzed with One Way ANOVA. ANOVA analysis showed significant differences of Bc1-2 expression (p=0,006) and the number of renal tubular dead cells (p=0,005) among the 3 groups. 8cI-2 expression and P2 renal tubular dead cells were signifkantly lower than K. It can be concluded that 400mekgbwiday extmctfor 1 week can decrease 801-2 expression and repair damaged formalin-induced renal tubular cells.
