Uji Efek Hipoglikemik Ekstrak Daun Jambu Biji (Psidium Guajava L.) Pada Tikus Putih(Hypoglicemic Effect of Guava (Psidium Guajava L) Leaf's Extract on White Rats)
ABSTRACT
Tannin as phenolic compounds in the guava leaves known can promotefat and glucose metabolism, so deposits of these both calory moves in the blood could be avoided. The purpose of this experiment was to prove the effect of guava leaves in decreasing blood glucose level on Sprague Dawley rats. This study was conducted by employing a complete Randomized Post Test Control Group Design.
This research was used 33 male Sprague Dawley rats, 3-4 month old, which was divided into 11 different groups. The blood glucose level was measured using glucometer Accu-checkR at 0, 30(1), 30(2), 60, 90, 120, and 270 minutes after the glucose tolerant was given. The data was statistically analyzed by using SPSS for Windows Release 17. The extract of guava leaves at 0,28 g/200gW; 0,56 g/200gW; 1,12 g/200gW doses decreased the pre-loaded Sprague Dawley rats' blood glucose level. However; the hypoglycemic effect of guava leaves extract at the doses above, showed smaller compared to glibenclamid at 10mg/kgW dose. The hypoglicemic effect between three varieties of guava leaves showed that they were not significantly different
