ABSTRACT

Balita are vulnerable to nutrition and health, low immune system, and have higher risk suffer in infectious diseases which often occur include respiratory. Protein, zinc, vitaminA are important nutrients for immune system and deficient in these will increase the risk of respiratory infection. The purpose of study is to know the difference 2-Score (WM), the intake of protein, zinc and Vitamin A among Balita with non-pneumonia-ARI and without-ARI. Population of this analytic survey with cross sectional design is Banta who live in the study area. Samples is 80 Balita. Z-Score index calculated using BB/U.

Data was collected by 24-hour recall for intake of protein, zinc Vitamin A, and interview-observation for respiratory events. The mean z-score (B/U) is 0.68, protein22.87 grams, zinc 6.43 mg and Vitamin A 424.59 RE. There is no difference between the nutritional status of patients with non-pneumonia-AR1 and without-ARI (p - 0.391). There is a significant difference in the intake of protein, zinc and vitamin A among patients with non-pneumonia-ARI and without-ARI (p=0.000, P=0.000, p=0.000). Study conclude there is no difference between the Bahia nutritional status with non-pneumonia-ARI and without-ARI but intake ofprotein, zinc and Vitamin A plays an important role in preventing non-pneumonia ARI.
