ABSTRACT

Lighting the library is an important aspect in %porting both students d employees activity. Lighting conditions that do not meet the standard n disrupt activity and cause eye fatigue. This study aimed to determine suitability level of righting in library of Ul. This study performed evalua¬design by comparing results with standard and an analysis of environ¬mental conditions. subjective response, and eye fatigue.

Results showed the level of suitabilly of lighfing in the library ranged from 0% to 103%. Most of the illumination has a level of suitabi:ity from 30% to 60%. This condition is caused by poor lighting distribution because some lamps are not ht, low intensity, pow layout of equipment, and slightly darker color of the room. Besides, there are libraries that have a very high righting causing glare, disturbing activity, and cause eye fatigue. Common eye fatigue felt by stu¬dents and employees is sleepy eyes and pain n the neck and shoulders.Complaints generally felt during acMrity. This ndicates that the level of lighting in the library must be immediately corrected to meet standard and minimize the tisk of eye fatigue.
