ABSTRACT

Background: Clinical manifestations of Hericobacter pylori (H. pylory) infection in children are not specific, and diagnosis through endoscopic examination in children needs special skills. This study aims to determine H. pylori by culture and PCR primers gImM (UreC) in the feces of children diagnosed as diarrhea treated at the Department of Pediatrics, Mataram University, West Nusa Tenggara.

Result: From November 2011- April 2012,35 specimens have been obtained. Nine was positive for H. pylori (25.71%) 3 were from patients aged 0-1 years (16.6%). H. Pylori was positive in 3(8.57%) stool culture and PCR was positive in 9(25.71%) patients.

Conclusion: H. Pylon infection can be detected by bacteriological culture and PCR.
