ABSTRACT

The increasing world population of elderlies brings additional health burden caused by decreasing cognitive function; and preservation of cognitive function can be influenced by social network and social activities. Research on 286 respondents in Jakarta showed that elderlies with low activities in community and not involved in community organizations have greater risk of low cognitive function compared with more active elderlies. Outings and shopping for daily needs, and voluntary community work are more importantcomponents, but not linear nor significant.
