Penilaian Indeks DMF-T Anak Usia 12 Tahun oleh Dokter Gigi dan Bukan Dokter Gigi di Kabupaten Ketapang Propinsi Kalimantan Barat
DMF-T index is an index to assess oral health status in terms of permanent tooth caries. Dental caries are usually caused by poor oral hygiene, so that there is an accumulation of plaque contains a variety of bacteria. The main indicator of DMF-T measurements according to the WHO is for 12-years old children. A cross sectional study was conducted to compare DMF-T index assessed by 10 dentists and 10 non dentists. It was conducted in West Kalimantan province, due to having high DMF-T index. A total of 30 children aged 12 years old, consisting of boys and girls, were examined. The purpose of this study was to obtain the accuracy of examination in order to decide wheter non dentist are suitable to assess DMF-T index for the coming Riskesdas or other surveys conducted by observational method. The average of DMF-T index assessed by dentists (3.35) and non dentists (3.15) was significantly different (mean difference 0.1967, p=0.0001). To get good and accurate results of DMF-T index, it is better to be be done by dentist or dental nurse.
