Diagnosis dan Tata Laksana Tull Mendadak (Diagnosis and Treatment of Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss)
ABSTRACT
Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is an otologic event that needs urgent treatment It is defined as a subjective sensation of hearing impairment in one or both ears, usually unilateral, rapid onset, occuring within 72 hours, with greater than 30 dB of hearing loss in at least 3 consecutive audiometric frequencies. The etiopathogenesis is unknown, up to 90% of cases is idiopathic and is presumptively attributed to vascular, viral, intracochlear membrane rupture and immune-mediated disorders. History of illness, physical examination, tuning fork tests, and audiometric evaluation are essential in establishing diagnosis and grading of hearing impairment. The current standard treatment is systemic corticosteroid therapy.
