Implementasi Program Pengendalian Resistensi Antibiotik dalam Mendukung Program Patient Safety (Implementation of Antibiotics Resistance Control Program to Support Patient Safety Program)
ABSTRACT
Patient safety is currently the issue among healthcare institutions and are obliged in all aspects of service. Law requires hospitals to implement patient safety standards. Results of a research collaboration between Indonesia and the Netherlands in Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya and Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang in 2000-2004, showed that there were already harmful multi-resistant microorganism. Programmes and activities of PPRA in Dr. Soetomo Hospital generally can be implemented properly. Implementation in the Internal Department in 2009 has increased appropriateness of antibiotic indications from 52,94% to 65%. It optimizes efficacy, prevents the emergence of antibiotic resistance, and reduces losses and ultimately supports patient safety program. Cost analysis showed cost savings of Rp. 203.000 per patient during hospitalization. Implementation of PPRA can improve the quality of infection management and cost effective.
