Gandum sebagai Faktor Pencetus Diabetes Mellitus tipe 1 pada Anak(Wheat as a Trigger of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus in Children)

ABSTRACT:

Indonesia is the fourth highest number of people with DM in worldwide after India, China, and the United States. Prevalence data of type 1 DM patients in Indonesia is still unknown, but believed to be quite a lot. The cause of type 1 DM is a combination of genetic, environmental, and immunologic response. Wheat is one of the environmental factors that can trigger type 1 DM. Wheat were given to children aged less than three months and over seven months who already have genetic predisposition may trigger the autoimmune process. Gen that known to be a predisposing factor type 1 DM that constribute to be a predisposing factor DM type 1 is HLA-DR4/DQ8.
